.....what Ibiza will be like...

In less than a week I am heading to the Spanish island of Ibiza. Great, I hear you say....holiday time! Well, no not quite.
I am going as part of a team from church to Ibiza as part of a bigger  team. (check out their work)
I've never been to this island, so I can only imagine what it is like. If it is like any other Spanish island it will have many places of beauty. I will get to work in the west end of San Antonio late at night into the wee hours of morning and beyond!
I've been thinking about what I am looking forward to:
1) the rhythm of prayer and ministry, spending time in the prayer room and then going out on the streets; in my head that sounds like a retreat!
2) I'm going expectantly, watching for God to do many amazing things among the people we meet and among us as a team and as individuals, so I expect to come home 'changed' by this encounter
3) I'm actually looking forward to being 'out of my comfort zone' or 'uncomfortable' as someone suggested
4) I'm going 'hungry for God', daring to take this risk....
you see I'm a good bit older than those who normally go on these teams!!!
5) the challenge to get my feet wet, taking a risk for the kingdom of God is resounding in my ears....
While praying for the time I will be there John 4 keeps coming to mind.....
I'll try and blog a bit more before I go

Space...

.... I have created 'space' tomorrow for a 24 hour retreat! A time to listen to God, read his word, pray, walk, rest and recharge my physical and spiritual batteries.
I'm going to a favourite retreat centre - Drumalis - and am grateful for their hospitality.
I have some of Jan Johnson's suggested retreat ideas stored up ready to use.

Come away with me ...

Recently I have had a real compulsion to retreat!
Retreat .... time out.... I have heard God say "come away with me".
I decided to block this Friday out of my diary and do just that ... retreat!
I have great expectations for the day; walking, listening, praying, listening, eating, listening. Just a day to do little and yet to achieve much ..... I will be different at the end of that time. I hope to draw closer to God be more aware of Him.
I am reminded of how Jesus went about his ministry.... long periods of solitude and communion with God, time out from his disciples, not just a quick before ministry, not a quick quiet time.... but extended time set apart with his father.

I'm looking forward to the space this will provide for me.
The day will finish by meeting a good friend over a cup of coffee.
